Central Maine Women Choose Wellness at Inland event
Nearly 500 people turned out for Inland’s 10th annual World of Women's Wellness Saturday, May 19 at the Alfond Youth Center in Waterville. Women of all ages attended to hear wellness lectures from physicians on heart health, peri-menopause, and life satisfaction. Hundreds of health screenings and spa samples were offered during the Inland event, along with cardiac cooking demonstrations and new exercise ideas, such as belly dancing. 65 exhibitors displayed their health and wellness information.
"Attendees tell us they really enjoy this annual health fair and count on it as a wellness resource," said Sara Dyer, Director of Community Relations at Inland Hospital. "We partner with more than 100 local organizations and volunteers, and invest significant time and resources for this community event. With obesity, physical inactivity and diabetes among the top health issues, our goal is to educate women about all the ways they can choose wellness in their lives and connect them to the many local resources for support." Inland’s RehabWorks department shared ergonomic gardening tips to protect backs and wrists, and The Sleep Center of Maine at Inland shared tips for healthy sleep habits. WABI-TV5 news anchor/health beat reporter, Catherine Pegram joined the event as the Demonstration Stage Host and interviewer.
The next event in Inland’s Signature Series of wellness events is Men’s Maintenance on November 13, 2007 at the Waterville Elks Lodge. FMI: ewells@emh.org or 207-861-3292. |
